Tips on Interview Preparation

  • Ensure your consultant has provided you with a detailed understanding of the position description, the team environment and the organisation.
  • Conduct additional research regarding the organisation through reading annual reports and researching on the internet. Understand its products/services, size, locations, financial situation and growth potential.
  • Make sure you know exactly where you are going and always be on time.
  • Dress conservatively and pay attention to all facets of your dress and grooming.
Know the exact place and time of the interview, the interviewer's full name and the correct pronunciation and his/her title.
  • Spend 30 minutes reviewing your resume/experience and its relevance to the position description. Identify the specific examples in your background that are directly relevant to the position description and that demonstrate your ability to do the job. Refresh your memory regarding details of present and past employers and your work history in their companies. You will be expected to know a lot about a company for which you have previously worked. Pay particular attention to how you will describe your most important achievements.
  • Be prepared to convey to the interviewer: why this role appeals to you, why they should consider you for this role and what makes you a bit different from other candidates.
  • Prepare the questions YOU will ask during the interview. Remember that an interview is a two-way street. The employer will try to determine through questioning if you have the qualifications necessary to do the job. You must determine through questioning whether the company will give you the opportunity for the growth and development you seek.

We are the lucky one that now a day’s lots of job sites are there, providing us the platform to fulfill our dreams. One can put there resume on these sites & on a single platform we are visible to lot of recruiters. These sites are really working hard to fulfill our dreams. But some times people complain that they are not getting any job alert through these sites. They are registered for so long but not getting any job alert or call from any recruiter. So here are few tips to job hunting:
  1. First step is to select the industry to which you are targeting.
  2. If you are targeting more that one industry, then make more than one resume each according to the industries you are targeting.
  3. Resume must be according to the industry type, it must be simple & easy to read.
  4. Resume must properly show your skills according to the industry for which you are hunting job.
  5. Never use your job phone for job hunting. Always use your cell phone no. or home phone no. on your resume.
  6. If you don't want your current employer to find your resume when searching for candidates, post resume on job sites where you can keep your employer and contact information confidential. For example, if you post your resume on Monster.com, you can make it confidential and your contact information and references won't be displayed. You can block your present company's name by entering an end date of present for your current position.
  7. Monster.com provides you one more service. Suppose if you are targeting two or three industries you can make different job alert agents. This will help you in finding more targeting jobs. Each job alert will work for a particular industry & gives you the best jobs from that industry.
  8. One of the most important step in searching job is to update your resume at least once in a week. Employers will always look for the fresh resume. So to get fresh jobs & calls from recruiters do update your resume regularly.
  9. And the last step is to stay confident & calm. Job hunting takes time. So don’t get panic & remain confident on your knowledge & skills. These two things are the key to your success.
